Living in Millcreek

Millcreek became a city in 2016 and stretches from the east bench near Millcreek Canyon toward the center of the valley. Its location between downtown Salt Lake City, Holladay and Sugar House makes it a practical choice for commuters who also want to be close to the mountains.

  • Millcreek Canyon: picnic areas, hiking and mountain biking a few minutes from home.
  • Millcreek Common: the city’s newer gathering place, with seasonal events and a winter skating ribbon.
  • Easy access: I-80, I-215 and I-15 are all close by.

Homes in Millcreek

Millcreek offers a broad mix: east-bench homes with views, classic ramblers and split-levels on established streets, and newer townhomes and condos closer to the main corridors. That range makes it a common landing spot for first-time buyers, move-up buyers and downsizers alike.

Selling in Millcreek

Because Millcreek covers so many home types, values can differ sharply within a few blocks. Recent comparable sales on your side of the city, matched to your home’s size, updates and lot, give a much clearer picture than a city-wide median.

Millcreek market snapshot

Millcreek’s median sale price was about $670,000 for the three months ending September 2026, up 2.6% from a year earlier. Homes took about 46 days to sell, up from 43 (source: Redfin). Prices are holding, but buyers are taking longer to decide, so a sharp list price matters more than it did a year ago.

What to know about Millcreek

  • East bench vs. valley floor. East of about 2300 East (Canyon Rim, East Millcreek, the Mount Olympus foothills), lots are bigger and views better. Toward the valley floor and main corridors, lots are smaller and townhomes more common. Gian’s Millcreek sales run from $255,000 to $1.65 million.
  • Mid-century homes. Most homes Gian has sold here were built between the late 1940s and the 1960s, so a sewer scope and an electrical check are worth doing before you buy.
  • Schools. Granite School District. Skyline and Olympus high schools serve much of the east side; confirm boundaries for a specific address with the district.
  • Millcreek Canyon rules. The canyon charges a per-car fee, and dogs may be off leash on odd-numbered days.
